The kilobit (Kbit) equals 1,000 bits and is primarily used to measure data transfer rates in networking, such as internet connection speeds. Internet service providers commonly advertise speeds in kilobits per second (Kbps) or megabits per second, making kilobits a key unit for understanding bandwidth. One kilobit equals 125 bytes, distinguishing it clearly from the kilobyte.
