EU shoe sizes (also called Continental or Paris Point sizes) use a scale where each size increment equals 2/3 cm (6.67 mm) in foot length, making EU 42 approximately 26.7 cm. The EU system is used throughout continental Europe and is the most common international standard. Converting between EU and US/UK sizes requires knowing the foot length.

UK shoe sizes are the basis for the US system but offset by approximately one size — UK 8 corresponds to a US Men's 9 and a foot length of about 27 cm. The UK system is used throughout Britain, Ireland, and many Commonwealth countries, and it closely matches the Indian shoe size system.
